In March 2008 I made the suprising discovery that I had a little artistic talent which had been lying dormant all my life. I started with simple still life subjects but as time went on I progressed to more complex subjects. The only medium I paint in is pastels which I love. They do tend to be messy but I love the immediacy of the work, involving no mixing with turps or water, just pure pigment directly applied and mixed right there on the paper. Carol Conrad
I was raised in England and moved to the United States with my husband in 1984 when he was offered a job in Buffalo, NY. We have moved around a bit and have lived in Florida, Massachusetts and Tennessee where we are now. We love this country and became citizens in 1990 and have been able to go back to Britain many times since then to visit family. We have now been here more than a quarter of a century. I am primarily a self-taught artist, though I have participated in some workshops along the way which has enhanced my work enormously. My main focus is landscapes as I have always had a love of the beauty that we find all around us in nature. I love skies and water scenes, but anything that takes my interest when out for a walk could end up as a pastel painting.
